IPL Physics And Benefits:

Intense Pulse Light (IPL) is quite different from a laser. An intense pulse light is a computer generated system, which emits a broad spectrum of light wavelengths, photons from 500 to 1300 nm. Special cut-off filters are used to block out wavelengths of light below the filter number selected and allow only those wavelengths of light above the filter number to pass through. This makes the IPL system versatile. You have the ability to choose which nm of wave length, duration and delay. As you know our patients come in many different tones to better treat them you need a system that you can use to customize wach treatment to get them the results they want!

Physics: It is the release of heat by the photon, around and within the microenvironment of the target chromophore, that must result in biological damage to the target and hopefully its disappearance. The released heat results in inflammation and injury to the pigmented lesion, resulting in slow elimination of the lentigine or hyperpigmented lesion by the macrophages of our immune system.

By incorporating the longer wavelengths with this system you can now treat darker skin types and Class I and Class II wrinkles, as well as treat leg veins. When using the higher filters you will see improvement in the wrinkles, pore size and skin texture. The long wavelengths create a subclinical dermal inflammation that stimulates the conversion of a fibroblast into a fibrocyte. Overtime, the activated fibrocyte. then produces new collagen. At the same time, existing collagen will shorten. The new collagen is organized into tight fibrils. Accumulation of new dermal collagen over the course of several treatments results in a thickening of the dermis and an apparent softening of the wrinkle, textural irregularity or pore size.

How many treatments: On average 5 treatments are required to give your patients optimal results one every 3-4 weeks with a microdermabrasion in-between. There is no down time associated with IPL treatments but you can not treat tanned skin. IPL is a wonderful way to help reverse sun damaged skin, improve texture, treat pigmentation, rough texture and very effective for treating rosacea a very common skin disorder today.

There are many IPL machines that perform very efficiently, however, in my opinion, the upgraded Vasculight Plus (HR), is the most effective and versatile device currently aAvailable using the Intense Pulse Light technology. By combining other complimentary treatments such as CDT and or LED you can greatly improve the results. ( See my CDT link for more information on this. ) IPL is a proven and effective treatment that you can bring to your practice with confidence. It truly does what it says it does. It works! Patients will see results and be happy. A happy patient can generate on average four more patients.

The Inderm PSI gun is currently the gun I use when injecting Mesotherapy or Lipodissolve. Patients do not tolerate well Mesotherapy for the face, for skin tightening or the head to treat male pattern baldness without the use of the power injector. It reduces patient discomfort significantly , and improves consistency in the treatment sites. It is also currently the only power injector gun made in the States. At the clinic I am currently working as the the Clinical Director , and I have a large patient load for the day with Mesotherapy and It saves my hands significantly!
