Giving injectables a shot... We are Inundated with Ads attempting to convince the public that injections, lasers and other medical procedures, are a thing of the past. By simply using their skin care products you can erase wrinkles or even fill in the wrinkles stating that "this is the future". Or how about the tag line.." Better than Botox®.".. I agree that the skin care industry has really stepped to the plate with advance products to help repair the skin but to suggest that good skin care products alone will eradicate wrinkles is a bit over the top!
My recommendation to you: do your homework, as not all skin care lines are created equal. There are science backed products available today for Medical Spas to help compliment your procedures. Private label companies developed by Dermatologists can help give your patients results and also give you a competitive edge but the truth of the matter is injectables are still the hottest trend in beauty today. Predictions show the demand for injectable beauty will easily top 10 million treatments in 2006. Botox® is still the best thing going for the wrinkles created by years of expression.

There are two types of wrinkles: dynamic and static. Wrinkles in motion , or dynamic wrinkles , occur due to repeated muscle movement. Dynamic wrinkles are the first to appear and can later lead to wrinkles at rest. Dynamic wrinkles appear when a muscle contracts with a facial expression, but static wrinkles or wrinkles at rest, are always visible. As we age the skin looses both hyaluronic acid and collagen
due to the natural ageing process resulting in wrinkles. A combination of both Dermal Fillers and Botox® is a powerful arsenal against father time!

What is a BOTOX® treatment?

"BOTOX® treatments", or "BOTOX® injection treatments" are a therapeutic muscle-relaxing agent that works at motor nerve endings (nerves that lead to muscles). BOTOX® Cosmetic is used for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines (frown lines). These frown lines come from muscles called corrugator and/or procerus muscles.

BOTOX® Is still the number one cosmetic procedure in America that treats dynamic wrinkles caused by years of expression. This procedure will help lift the brows to have a more rested look and smooth out frown lines giving a less angry look.. On average you will need a treatment every 3 to 4 months to maintain the effects of Botox®.. Results will normally show on day three and continue to soften the wrinkles for 14 days. You will have the total effects of the injection typically by day 14. It is suggested to have your patient return for a recheck visit two weeks after their Initial appointment with you.
BOTOX® injection treatments were approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for cosmetic use in April 2002 for frown lines and is commonly used for other " off label" uses for wrinkles of the face and also successfully used to treat blepharospasm and strabismus and has been proven useful in treating cervical dystonia.

Botox is still considered the number one cosmetic procedure available today to effectivly treat wrinkles in motion. There is a trend of the younger population starting with Botox in there mid twenty's to prevent future deep wrinkles.

When BOTOX® -- botulinum toxin A -- is injected into the muscles surrounding the eyes, for instance, those muscles can not "scrunch up" for a period of time. They are paralyzed. So the wrinkles in that area, often referred to as "crow's-feet," temporarily go away.
